Description

Traditional crockpot split pea soup with smoked ham hock, rich, hearty, and slow-cooked for deep flavor.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb dried split peas
  • 1 smoked ham hock
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 carrots sliced
  • 2 celery stalks chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 67 cups broth
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

1. Rinse split peas thoroughly

2. Add peas to crockpot

3. Place ham hock in center

4. Add vegetables and garlic

5. Pour broth over ingredients

6. Season and add bay leaf

7. Cook on low 7-8 hours

8. Remove ham hock and shred meat

9. Return meat and stir

10. Adjust seasoning and serve

  • Add more broth for thinner soup
