Description

A light and refreshing German cucumber salad with vinegar and dill, known as authentic Gurkensalat. Crisp, tangy, and perfect as a simple side dish.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large cucumbers
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill
  • 1 teaspoon oil (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Wash and thinly slice cucumbers

2. Salt cucumbers and rest for 20 minutes

3. Slice onions thinly

4. Drain and pat cucumbers dry

5. Mix vinegar, water, sugar, dill, and oil

6. Add cucumbers and onions to dressing

7. Toss gently to coat

8. Chill for 30–60 minutes before serving
