Ingredients
For the Cake Batter:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
For the Strawberry Layer:
- 2 cups fresh strawberries (sliced)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
For the Crumble Topping:
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter (cold, cubed)
Instructions
1. Mix strawberries with sugar and lemon juice. Let sit 10–15 minutes.
2. Prepare crumble by mixing flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and butter until crumbly. Chill.
3. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch pan.
4. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
5. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to batter.
6. Spread batter into pan. Add strawberries and juices on top.
7. Sprinkle crumble topping evenly.
8. Bake for 40–50 minutes until golden and set.
9. Cool 20 minutes before slicing and serving.
