Description
Parmesan Crusted Chicken Cutlets are crispy, golden, and full of Italian flavor. Thin chicken cutlets are coated with Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, and herbs, then pan-fried until perfectly crunchy on the outside and juicy inside.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 3/4 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Fresh chopped parsley (optional garnish)
- Extra grated Parmesan (optional)
- Lemon wedges for serving
- Marinara sauce (optional)
- Pasta or roasted vegetables for serving
Instructions
1. Slice each chicken breast horizontally to create thin cutlets. Pound gently if needed to about 1/2 inch thickness.
2. Season both sides of the chicken with salt and black pepper.
3. In one shallow bowl whisk together eggs and milk.
4. In another bowl mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
5. Dip each chicken cutlet into the egg mixture then coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly so the crumbs stick.
6. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
7. Place the breaded chicken cutlets in the skillet in a single layer.
8. Cook for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
9. Transfer the cooked chicken to a plate lined with paper towels.
10. Allow the chicken to rest for a few minutes before serving.
11. Garnish with fresh parsley, extra Parmesan, and lemon wedges before serving.
Notes
- Use panko breadcrumbs for an extra crispy crust.
- Freshly grated Parmesan provides the best flavor and texture.
- For a baked version place breaded chicken on a lined baking sheet and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 18–20 minutes.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat in the oven or air fryer to keep the crust crispy.
