Description
A bold and comforting one pot spaghetti with Italian sausage, simmered in rich tomato sauce with garlic and herbs for an easy weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
12 ounces halal chicken Italian sausage, casings removed
28 ounces canned crushed tomatoes
4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
8 ounces dried spaghetti, broken in half
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Salt and black pepper to taste
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh basil leaves
Instructions
1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat
2. Add onion and cook until soft
3. Stir in garlic and cook briefly
4. Add sausage and brown while breaking it apart
5. Pour in tomatoes and broth and stir well
6. Season with oregano, pepper flakes, salt, and pepper
7. Bring to a boil and add spaghetti
8. Reduce heat and simmer until pasta is tender
9. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking
10. Mix in Parmesan cheese until creamy
11. Garnish with basil and serve
Notes
Add more chili flakes for heat
Use gluten-free pasta if needed
Add broth if sauce thickens too much
Store leftovers for up to three days
