Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken Marinade:

1 1/2 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts

3 tablespoons olive oil

Juice of 1 lemon

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

Salt and black pepper to taste

For the Tzatziki Sauce:

1 cup Greek yogurt

1 small cucumber, grated and drained

1 clove garlic, minced

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Salt to taste

For Serving:

Pita bread or flatbreads

Sliced tomatoes

Red onion, thinly sliced

Shredded lettuce

Crumbled feta cheese (optional)

Instructions

1. In a bowl, mix olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper.

2. Add chicken and coat well. Marinate for at least 20 minutes or up to 24 hours.

3. In another bowl, mix yogurt, cucumber, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, and salt to make tzatziki.

4. Refrigerate tzatziki while chicken marinates.

5. Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.

6. Cook chicken for 5–7 minutes per side until fully cooked and slightly charred.

7. Remove chicken, let rest for 5 minutes, then slice into strips.

8. Warm pita bread in a skillet or oven.

9. Assemble gyros with chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and feta.

10. Top with tzatziki sauce and serve immediately.

Notes

Marinate longer for deeper flavor.

Drain cucumber well to avoid watery tzatziki.

Use chicken thighs for juicier results.

Serve immediately for best texture.

Store leftovers separately for freshness.
