Description

Creamy Asiago Chicken is a quick and easy restaurant-style dinner made with tender pan-seared chicken breasts simmered in a rich, velvety Asiago cream sauce with garlic and Italian herbs. Elegant, comforting, and perfect for weeknights or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated Asiago cheese
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Remove chicken from refrigerator 15–20 minutes before cooking. Pat dry and pound to even thickness if needed.
  2. Season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
  3. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Sear chicken 5–6 minutes per side until golden and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Remove and tent with foil.
  5. Reduce heat to medium. Add minced garlic and sauté 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Pour in chicken broth and scrape up browned bits from the pan. Simmer 2–3 minutes.
  7. Slowly stir in heavy cream. Add dried Italian seasoning and paprika. Simmer 4–5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  8. Gradually whisk in Asiago cheese until fully melted and smooth.
  9. Return chicken to the skillet and spoon sauce over the top. Simmer gently 4–5 minutes.
  10. Garnish with parsley and serve warm over pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes.

Notes

  • Freshly grated Asiago melts more smoothly than pre-shredded.
  • Half-and-half may be substituted for a lighter sauce.
  • Add sautéed mushrooms or spinach for extra flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container up to 3 days.
  • Reheat gently over low heat to prevent sauce separation.
