Crispy on the outside and cheesy on the inside, these Cheesy Garlic Parm Potato Balls are the ultimate comfort food appetizer. Perfect for parties, holidays, or anytime you want something savory and snackable.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups cold mashed potatoes

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

3/4 cup shredded mozzarella

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 tablespoon chopped parsley

1 large egg

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

2 beaten eggs (for coating)

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

Oil for frying or spray for baking

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine mashed potatoes, Parmesan, mozzarella, garlic, parsley, one egg, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix thoroughly until smooth and chill the mixture for 20–30 minutes.
  3. Scoop out 1 tablespoon of mixture and roll into balls. Optional: add a cube of mozzarella in the center.
  4. Dredge each ball in flour, dip into beaten eggs, then coat with breadcrumbs.
  5. To fry: Heat oil to 350°F and fry each ball for 2–3 minutes until golden brown.
  6. To bake: Place on a parchment-lined tray and bake at 400°F for 20–25 minutes.
  7. To air-fry: Cook at 375°F for 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  8. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

You can freeze the uncooked balls for up to 2 months. Bake or air-fry directly from frozen—just add a few extra minutes.

Use chilled mashed potatoes to help the balls hold their shape better.

Add-ins like bacon, jalapeño, or caramelized onions can be folded into the mixture for flavor variety.
