Description
Baked Honey Garlic Chicken Thighs is an easy weeknight chicken dinner featuring juicy oven-baked chicken coated in a sticky honey garlic glaze made with soy sauce, garlic, and a hint of tangy vinegar.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional garnish)
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional garnish)
- Sliced green onions (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking dish or line with parchment paper.
- Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels to help the skin crisp during baking.
- Season both sides of the chicken with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
- Arrange the chicken thighs skin-side up in the prepared baking dish and drizzle lightly with olive oil.
- In a bowl whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, ketchup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes.
- Pour the honey garlic sauce evenly over the chicken thighs.
- Bake the chicken for 30 minutes until the sauce begins to bubble.
- Remove the dish from the oven and baste the chicken with the sauce from the bottom of the pan.
- Return to the oven and bake another 15–20 minutes until the chicken reaches 165°F (75°C) and the skin becomes golden.
- Optional: broil for 2–3 minutes for extra crispy skin.
- Allow the chicken to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
- Garnish with parsley, sesame seeds, or sliced green onions before serving.
Notes
- Marinate the chicken in the honey garlic sauce for 30 minutes before baking for deeper flavor.
- Boneless chicken thighs can be used; reduce cooking time by about 5–10 minutes.
- Leftover sauce can be simmered in a saucepan to thicken and serve as extra glaze.
- Add vegetables such as broccoli, carrots, or green beans during the last 15 minutes for a one-pan dinner.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator up to 3 days and reheat gently.
